Mini-Biography
Alexandre Aguiar is Professor of Invertebrate Zoology at the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from the same university, and completed a Ph.D. in 2000 at The Ohio State University on the phylogeny and taxonomy of the world Stephanidae. He then spent five years at the Universidade de São Paulo working with systematics of cryptines (Ichneumonidae), and took up his current position at UFES in 2005. Alex's major research interests centre on the phylogeny and taxonomy of the wasp families Stephanidae and Ichneumonidae (Cryptinae), extending also to biodiversity structure of parasitoid wasps and to the development of new research methods or approaches.
