Mini-Biography
John Jennings is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Adelaide. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in 1972 from Flinders University, and his initial appointment in 1973 was as assistant wheat breeder at Roseworthy Agricultural College. In 1974 he became the College's first Tutor and later a Lecturer in biology, entomology and microbiology, a position he held at the time of the merger of the College with The University of Adelaide in 1990. John obtained his PhD in 2001 at The University of Adelaide on the systematics of hyptiogastrine wasps. John's major research interests centre on the biology, biogeography and systematics of the wasp families Aulacidae, Gasteruptiidae, and Xiphydriidae. He is a past Treasurer and current South Australian Regional Councillor of the Australian Entomological Society, Chairman of the Council of Heads of Australian Entomological Collections, Convenor of the Kangaroo Island LTER, Vice-President of the Royal Society of South Australia and convenes the Editorial Board of the Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia.
